Tucker 2008

Postby noguice » Sun Apr 02, 2006 12:18 am

Well, I should tell you a little about myself.
Not only do I know alittle about the Tucker, I'm sort of what you might call, obsessed with Tucker. Not just the car, but the man and the philosphy. I look around at the other car companies, and can only imagine what could have been.
I went to school to learn to be a designer, I got my masters in Industrial Design from Auburn Univ. I've met contacts in various automotive areas that could make things happen. I think now would be the time to make things happen, Even if only as a limited production run, and mainly experiemental to show what should be.

I want to return the Tucker to the roads, not just a replica, but a whole new car, for 2008, with the philosophy of Tucker behind it. Detroit is giving us cars that may be safer than they once were, but just aren't ethically where Tucker would have been. Why are we still Gas dependant, when a High school class in Philedelphia built a BioDiesel Hybrid sports car that gets 50mpg and does 0-60 in 4 sec?

I'm putting together a presentation, and would like to produce scale models, and if my current employer will let me, i have most of the tools to go fullsize with a mock-up and the possibility of a rather unrefined driving mock-up.

I've thought the entire buisness out, far beyond the car, but the sales, the longevity, the customer relations, and even the company management/employee relationship.

I'd like to run some ideas past a few people if anyone is willing to listen and critique. I will ask for some sort of confidentiality/non-compete agreement on the info/concepts I discuss, but other than that, if anyone would be interested in being involved, That would be wonderful.

These are some very rough sketches and CAD renderings, but it gives you an idea of my dirrection.

let me know if this link doesn't work, I'll email pics to whoever wants them

Thanks

no, actually, i had just heard over the weekend that there was a car company there, but the guy telling me didn't know which one it was. I thought he might have been confused with Panoz at first, though that's on the other side of ATL. Thanks for letting me know which company it is, I may drop them a line for some work.

I'm actually working for a playground company here in carrollton.

This latest Avanti owner is interesting. He was making them out of F-Body Firebirds until GM killed off the Firebird and Camaro. Now I see he's using Ford chassis' with Mustang engine options.

Interestingly, half of the website doesn't work and there are no interior photos.

I live about 20 min from their factory, i'll take a tour soon and hopefully get some pics.

I passed one going thru villa ricca the other day. to me, they retain way too much of the donor car, so their lines are a little off. plus they tried to dress up a classic simple design with sharp lines with something dressed up a bit with bulging lines. it's nice someone is still keeping the name alive, but at the same time.......

I wish you luck Nathan. That would be awesome to see one of them going down the road and to say "I know the guy that founded that company!" Even if it's just from message board postings :)

I could probably help you find someone to resin cast some copys or stuff like that. Most of my time is spent building models and disgussing them on 4 diffrent message boards, and it's how I found here, by asking if anyone had any info about #002! I was given a link to the site, and here I am!

well, i'm going to be in nashville this week dealing with one of our sister divisions which works in creating custom sculptured playgrounds, like you might see in a children's museum. So i may see what abilities they have in doing a full scale body mock-up and mold buck. and while i'm there, i'll visit the tucker under restoration.
i have been wanting to have a model produced by SLA (stereo lithography, don't know what the A stands for) and casting a mold off of it to make others, but i graduated before i got the chance, and lost my student discount. even for us it was $5 per cubic inch.

Hey Nathan!

Me and some of my gearhead friends saw your pics on Yahoo and we all think they're awesome! We wouldn't mind seeing one of those out on the road someday! Good luck with the project!

BTW, if anyone has "Star Wars Episode 3" on DVD, take a good look at Bale Organa's speedster. Looks somewhat familiar, doesn't it???
